Review: Aromi Liquid Lipstick

Let’s continue on our adventure of my favorite vegan cosmetics! Other than mascara and liquid eye-liner, my absolute favorite makeup product is LIQUID LIPSTICK. I have… probably 50 different ones. I have tried many vegan brands, and my absolute FAVORITE MOST OBSESSED MUST HAVE EVERY COLOR brand is Aromi. Aromi specializes in lipstick, they also have some perfume I haven’t tried (my nose is too sensitive for perfume, I can’t handle wearing any scents). They have classic lipstick tubes, matte liquid lipstick, metallic liquid lipstick, in too many colors to count. Just go look at their swatches, it’s like art. Black Cherry, Red Dahlia, Rose Gold, and Sugared Mauve are some of my favorites. They even have greens and blues… oh my, they just came out with a teal color called “Mermaid Tail”. I must have it!

All the vegan liquid lipstick brands I have tried, in order of personal favorites:

  1. Aromi!
  2. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: All the girls I know love this lipstick, even non-vegans. I also love the sets of tiny lipsticks, you can try all the colors for a cheaper price – I have a whole set!
  3. Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick: Jeffree Star has some of the must unique colors! My favorites are Blow Pony (I wear this constantly) and Weirdo, which is an inky black I admit I have totally subbed as liquid eyeliner.
  4. Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick: I want to do a separate post on Ofra, which is another great vegan makeup brand. Killer liquid lipstick, a million awesome colors.
  5. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar: I have a few of these, they are a little too sticky for me! I prefer matte to gloss.
  6. Lime Crime: I’ve heard a lot about Lime Crime, and was excited for the colors, but wasn’t impressed with the consistency. Too watery and not enough coverage- maybe it was just the color I tried. I may give them another chance sometime.

I’ll add to this list if I try any more, but honestly I’m so obsessed with Aromi, Kat Von D and Jeffree Star I probably won’t be trying any new brands anytime soon. 🙂

Review: Medusa’s Makeup and November Beauty Box

So I ordered this beauty box last week, and then realized when it arrived that IT IS DECEMBER NOW AND I GET ANOTHER ONE. YES. I can’t wait.

So while The All Natural Face is the most versatile vegan/cruelty free makeup brand, Medusa’s Makeup is the most fun!! They have my favorite mascara and the best part is all of their stuff is EPIC on the glitter. Level of glitter that I as a professional glitzer rarely encounter. Here are my favorite products:

  • WITCH LASH MASCARA. Witch Lash Witch Lash Witch Lash! This is great, dark, thick mascara I wear every day. The only thing it could do better is be “waterproof” but it lasts plenty well and I’m not crying all over the place (usually) and it’s better in quality than the water-proof vegan mascaras I have tried. Lies, I can only find one: Aquarian Gaze by Pacifica, which does not have the UMPH of Witch Lash, which I prefer. It also has more Umph, durability, and darkness than The All Natural Face vegan mascara.
  • Deluxe Eyelashes. They only sell one style of eyelash: my absolute favorite shape and thickness. And it comes in a cute heart box with a little bit of vegan lash glue which is great for gifts or retail.
  • Eye Dust, with the best fixer to keep it in place. SO MUCH GLITTER AND SHIMMER. SO MUCH.
  • Neon Pigment. This neon dust glows under blacklight. I am a blacklight body painter – need I say more? One of my must-haves.

I’m also really fond of their lipstick in Lydia purple, but in general I’m more of liquid lipstick. Their lip paint is pretty new, I haven’t tried it it yet. Not sure about the colors but I’m sure they will add more. I had hoped some would come in the November Beauty Box, but you can’t pick! I have wanted their beauty box for SO LONG because it’s all vegan and cruelty free, and right as I am at am my absolute broke-est I decided I could wait. Here’s what I got!

  • “Sex on the Peach” Mineral Blush – I don’t see this on the site! It must be new! The other blushes are all $12.
  • “Karma Chameleon” Eye Dust, $8
  • “The Fix” Glitter Adhesive, $9

Total: $29 value I got for $15.95 at the Beauty Box subscription. Nice.

I love how well these items go together. The fix is obviously to maximize the eye dust, and the mineral blush is similar in tone. So you could base a whole look off of these pretty, peachy red-pink tones. They are unique colors a lot of people may not have, though it does clash a bit with my hot pink hair – OR DOES IT??? Rules are made to be broken and I like adding the eye dust on top of the already sparkly mineral blue for EXTRA SPARKLE.

Hopefully I get the next one soon – can’t wait!

Review: The All Natural Face

At this point in time, I would like to express my eternal love and devotion toward the company The All Natural Face. If I could only use one makeup brand for the rest of my life, this would be the one. Everything on their site is as natural, vegan, and non-toxic as their busy little hands can make them. They have the widest variety of foundation skin colors I’ve ever seen, and the prices are so fair it’s unreal. Don’t expect everything to come in fancy packaging, they keep things simple for price reasons which I appreciate. Some of them items like their beautiful bamboo makeup brushes are naturally elegant and their magnetic cases are so incredibly practical. The All Natural Face literally has everything you need. Do I prefer a few select items from other companies? Sure, but this is such a solid brand you could get all of your makeup from them. As a vegan makeup artist, 90% of my kit is from this brand and I really want to promote and sell these products as much as possible.

All of my foundations, concealers, powders, highlighters, bronzers, eyeshadows, fixers, makeup brushes, brow wax and powder, and eyeliner sticks are from this company. I do prefer to get liquid eyeliner, liquid lipstick, and mascara from other brands – but that’s hardly anything! They have eyeliner and mascara which are entirely adequate as well as some pretty nice silky nail polish. I just have a few other brands I like to get those things from.

On to my favorite items!

  1. Vegan Fairy Dust. VEGAN FAIRY DUST. So much glitter and shimmer. I give these as gifts all the time! I need it on my face every day for skin like a baby fairy rolling around in magic.
  2. THIS Sweet Jasmine Facial Cleanser and Makeup Remover. Light, lovely scent, removes makeup well and leaves my skin moisturized and fairy baby butt soft.
  3. Angel Dust Bronzer. What this golden glow? My skin naturally glitters bronze, duh.
  4. Vegan Shimmer Cream Blush: Goes on with a quick swipe of my finger, stays all day long. They have these in shimmer, matte, a large variety of colors, and you can ALSO use them on your lips. What??
  5. Pressed Shimmer Vegan Eye Color: I have every color (lies. need more) and the nice magnetic cases. One of the most practical and necessary collections that I own.
  6. Cream Foundation: I prefer the cream foundation over the liquid. The only problem is SO MANY COLORS to choose from! Luckily you can buy samples!
  7. Diva Stix for Eyes: Great variety of creamy eyeliner sticks.
  8. Eyebrow wax and powder: comes in a tiny kit with a perfect brush, in colors that match your hair!
  9. Super handy bamboo brushes! Makeup brushes can be SO EXPENSIVE, and these are so great.

They have SO MUCH MORE stuff! Foundation primers, hydration mists, fixatives, powder sunscreen, lipstick, lip-gloss, chap-stick, and that doesn’t even get into all of their shampoos and body washes and something they call face food. I could go on forever but really you just need to do some exploring at www.theallnaturalface.com.

Inspiration: Tal Peleg

Tal Peleg is a makeup artist from Israel who went viral with her detailed eye-paintings – they are so perfect. Basically she is a miniature artist of the makeup world, and so talented!

Inspiration: Emily Anderson Makeup

I just discovered Emily Anderson through this stunning mermaid face – I think on Pinterest. If Pinterest could come as some kind of bionic implant so that I could browse behind my eyelids all the time, I would probably do it. Obsessed. With. Pinterest.

Emily is a makeup artist in Los Angeles who FLAWLESSLY combines makeup with face painting and special effects. Just gorgeous.

Inspiration: The Gypsy Shrine

Basically every viral glitter video is from Gypsy Shrine. All worship the glitter. Doesn’t seem very eco-friendly though, but I haven’t actually ordered any of their products – they just remind me that there is no such thing as too much sparkle or two many boobs, a philosophy I have taken very seriously. Maybe I’ll find eco-friendly ways to imitate them! I’m transitioning to biodegradable glitter as my many (pounds) of old glitter are used up. I’m doing major bio-glitter research – I will do a comparison post at some point.

Inspiration: Kimberly Margarita

Oh Kimberly. Such an ethereal beauty, so much creativity! I love how she always includes her neck and often her nails as part of the image – something to keep in mind!

Inspiration: Kim van Nieuwaal

I just discovered Kim van Nieuwaal! It was her glitter lips and glitter eyes that first caught my attention – there aren’t too many face painters that have such a memorable style. I love her work and once again – there is no such thing as too much glitter.
